Nana's Secret Barbeque

Nana's Secret Barbeque

THE SUN AND SPOON KITCHEN

Sweet. Smoky. Tropical. Bold.
This Banana BBQ recipe has been passed down in our family for generations — the same flavors that showed up at backyard parties, fiestas, and potlucks where the grill never stayed quiet for long.

Today, we make it easier with Nana’s Banana Barbeque Sauce, so you can bring that same nostalgic Filipino BBQ flavor to your table in minutes.

Serves: 2–4

Ingredients

  • 1–2 lbs chicken (thighs, wings, drumsticks) or pork (chops, ribs, belly)
  • ½ cup Nana’s Banana Barbeque Sauce
  • Salt, pepper and garlic powder

Quick Prep

  1. Season meat with salt, pepper and garlic powder

  2. Marinate - Toss with ½ cup Nana’s sauce.
    Marinate overnight for deeper flavor.

Pro Tips (Flavor Upgrade)

Make a Hot Banana BBQ Dip
Warm ¼ cup Nana’s Banana BBQ Sauce in a small pan.
Add 1–2 tsp chili crisp, chili oil, or sriracha.
Serve as a bold dipping sauce for chicken, pork, fries, or grilled veggies.

Want Heat?
Add fresh chopped red chili or chili flakes to the marinade for a sweet-spicy kick that balances the caramelized BBQ flavor.

Marinate. Glaze. Savor bold flavor.
